Fly Fishing San Martin, Argentina Argentina is one of our favorite winter destinations - in our winter, it's summer there! For 20 years we have been hosting groups there with Ramon Aranguren, operator of Chimehuin Safaris. He is located in San Martin de los Andes in the heart of Patagonia's best trout fishing. We recommend a 2-week visit, but can arrange a schedule to fit any time frame. We center our trips on 4 locations, each offering its own fishing experience and ambiance.

Wading is prevalent, but we do offer float trips with or without overnight camping on the river. The camping is deluxe with all equipment provided. In addition to the floats you may stay at San Huberto Lodge on the Malleo River. The Malleo is a medium size river known for its great dry fly fishing. Carmen and Carlos Olsen and their son, Ronnie, are your hosts at their home and welcome only 14 guests at a time-for 30 miles of river! Cerro de los Pinos is the Larminat Estancia on the Chimehuin River. A little larger river, the Chimehuin boasts good numbers of Rainbows and Browns with opportunities for 5-6# fish. Here, a maximum of 14 anglers shares 12 miles of water and is housed in deluxe accommodations. It's only 5 minutes to the river and after a morning's fishing a huge outdoor lunch is served, followed by a siesta and return to a new beat for the evening hatch.

Arroyo Verde on the Traful River is the most luxurious fishing lodge in Argentina. Meme LaRiviere hosts you with white glove service and the most beautiful river setting in the area. Fishing is for bigger, but more difficult fish. Landlocked Salmon are a special extra here and are regularly caught by our clients. We specialize in creating the schedule you wish, depending on availability. We suggest first timers spend a few days in each location to experience the variety that is available. Returnees can then concentrate on what they like best.
